Retracing Fore-Fathers Footsteps, Generation 10
As a new contender, I shall plot my progress into research for Joseph Sanderson as I go in this page.
I have tentatively surmised the father of Joshua Sanderson to be Joseph Sanderson. As he has been included in the list of Sandersons taken from the Parish Registers of Bradfield St Nicholas since the beginning of our journey into family history, we have been aware of him, but has always been sidelined as not directly related. Now it is time to look further into his life to see if he was an ancestor.
So now to decide which of the ‘Joseph Sandersons’ mentioned in the registers might have been the father of ‘Joshua’.
As Joshua was born 1684, I shall use dates 1620 -1670 to list all Joseph Sandersons baptised in the registers between these dates.
I realise that he may not have been baptised in Bradfield church, but shall look further afield later if necessary.

There were no Sanderson Baptisms or Burials occurring in Ecclesfield (the next parish), during the relevant period. There were some marriages, but none to ‘Joseph Sanderson’.
For now, we can conclude that the likely parents of Joshua Sanderson born 1684, were Joseph Sanderson and Mary Creswicke, who married at Bradfield St Nicholas 3rd February 1675/6 (pre 1752 year change).
Following on from this – they had the following children –

Joshua 11.05.1684 – (Married Dorathy Hawkesworth January 1705/6)
For now there are two possible Joseph’s-
ie son of Robert baptised 5 October 1651, or son of Raphe born 18 October 1659/ baptised 29 December 1660
